What Is Coaching?
Coaching is a question-based approach to personal and professional development that is aimed at creating awareness, generating action, and facilitating learning and growth.
INQUIRY-BASED
You are an expert on your own life. You have all the answers within yourself, though sometimes in the heat of the moment you may struggle to find them. That’s where I come in. By listening deeply to what you’re saying – and how you’re saying it – I’ll ask you questions that will require you to think and feel your way through where you are. I won’t be providing you advice or answers; instead, I’ll listen compassionately to you, acknowledge what I see in you and what I hear you saying, and help you to find answers and insights within yourself.
YOUR TOPICS
In order to make our work together as impactful and meaningful for you as possible, it is up to you to come to each session with something in mind that you want coaching on. At the beginning of our relationship, we’ll work together to establish goals and a foundation that will guide your exploration. Although our individual conversations may meander from these initial goals, you can rest assured that I will be holding your underlying agenda in mind throughout and can help steer us back if we get off track.
PRESENT / FORWARD LOOKING
Coaching conversations are focused on where you are and where you want to go. We will touch on how or why you’ve gotten to where you are today, but most of our time will be focused on making sense of where you are right now, what’s up for you in that space, and, with that in mind, what you want and where you want to go. Coaching is intended to be exciting – helping you get more of what you want! Through our work together you’ll develop increased awareness, have someone to hold you accountable, and create a more exciting future.
CO-CONSTRUCTED RELATIONSHIP
Although the fundamentals of many coaching relationships are similar, the dynamic with each of my clients is different, depending upon individual need. Together, we will create a safe, courageous, and confidential space for you to explore whatever is on your mind. At the start of our relationship, we’ll design an alliance that will set the ground rules to help us work together most effectively. Over time, we’ll continue to revisit how we’re doing together, ensuring that our coaching relationship is tailored to your exact needs.
Why Seek Coaching?
Top performers across all industries work with executive coaches to help bring their game to the next level. Coaching allows you to see yourself in a new light, helping you create sustainable, meaningful change that will bring you clarity, confidence, and vivacity.
BUILD CONFIDENCE
We are often our own harshest critics. Coaching can help you see the value within yourself and allow you to appreciate what’s already working.
IMPROVE PERFORMANCE
A coach can help you set goals and keep you accountable, leading to better performance for your business, and for you as a leader.
DEVELOP CLARITY & INSIGHT
In the thick of the storm, we usually can only see the fog right in front of us. A coach can help you see the insights hiding beneath the surface.
SEE NEW PERSPECTIVES
When you feel stuck, a coach can help to identify alternative, fresh perspectives, giving you a broader understanding of your options.
INCREASE EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE
Coaching helps you become more in touch with your thoughts and emotions, allowing you to see yourself in an integrated light.
STRENGTHEN RELATIONSHIPS
With increased self-awareness, you’ll be able to cultivate healthier, happier relationships with coworkers, family and friends.
FIND BALANCE
Feel pulled in too many directions? Coaching helps you prioritize where to spend your time to create a truly sustainable lifestyle.
EXPLORE CHANGE
A coach can create a space for you to safely explore change, and to develop the conviction you need to tackle new opportunities.
How Does Coaching Work?
Through our coaching work together, you will become more connected with what you truly care about. In this way, you’ll develop the ability to live a more meaningful, purposeful, and fulfilling life.
COACH THE WHOLE PERSON
Although our primary focus may be on your professional effectiveness and development, I’m particularly excited by clients who are interested in a full-person approach to their leadership development and style. We may talk about your personal relationships, health, habits, spirituality, mindfulness, or anything else that impacts the way you show up each day in your life.
CHALLENGE / SUPPORT
As your coach, I’ll be an advocate for you finding what you’re looking for in your life. To get there, I’ll acknowledge what I see in you and when I see you succeeding, even if you don’t necessarily see it in yourself. When I challenge you, you can trust that my intention is aligned with helping you achieve what you want to achieve or be how you want to be.
ROOTED IN VALUES
We will work to help you reconnect with your values and what you really care about. Once we’ve established these together, your values will serve as the bedrock of our coaching relationship. If you’re stuck on a decision, we can return to your values to help guide you. This focus on values will allow you to honor what you care about, helping you feel more alive.
ACCOUNTABILITY
Along our journey together, we’ll design homework experiments and actions that I’ll hold you accountable to. This accountability can serve as a motivating force for you. To the extent you’ve decided to take a different action (or no action!) on these experiments, we’ll explore the underlying resistance together, allowing you to deepen and forward your learning and action.
EMOTIONAL RESONANCE
All emotions – positive and negative – are resonant. Together, we’ll explore your stories and interpretations of the world, as well as your emotions underlying these stories and interpretations. By exploring these emotions more deeply, you’ll develop more self-awareness, allowing you to better approach self-management, conflict and relationships.
MINDFULNESS & COMPASSION
When we pause each day, we begin to calm our minds and to develop a deeper awareness of our thoughts and emotions. By creating this space, we can begin to cultivate more compassion for others and for ourselves, creating more fruitful relationships. I’m particuarly passionate about exploring a mindfulness practice with my clients, so don’t be shy to ask to learn more!
How Do We Work Together?
I offer phone and video coaching services for clients worldwide. Throughout our coaching relationship, we’ll chat twice a month for an hour each session. In between calls, I’m always available through text and email, and we can set up additional times to touch base whenever you need to.
SAMPLE SESSION
During your complimentary 45 minute consultation, we’ll do 30-35 minutes of structured coaching exercises together and will leave 10-15 minutes at the end for you to ask any questions you have related to our coaching relationship. The purpose of the Sample Session is to determine our chemistry and fit together, as well as to explore if our coaching relationship can help you to achieve your goals. At the end of the session, we’ll decide whether we want to move forward working together. Whether we decide to work together or not, you’ll walk away from our Sample Session with increased self-awareness and self-knowledge, and will have concrete takeaways you can incorporate into your everyday life.
DISCOVERY SESSION
Once we’ve decided to work together, our first official coaching session will lay the foundation for our coaching relationship. During our Discovery Session, which will last 90–150 minutes, we’ll design our alliance to determine how we’ll work together, introduce some coaching terminology, establish your priorities and goals, and make sure we’re aligned on logistics. We’ll also start to build some tools around your values that you’ll be able to rely on in Ongoing Coaching. At the end of our Discovery Session, we will have gotten to know each other better and will have worked to establish trust and confidence in our coaching relationship, allowing us to hit the ground running in Ongoing Coaching.
ONGOING COACHING
Each month, we’ll chat twice over the phone or videoconference, with each session lasting for one hour. For each session in Ongoing Coaching, it is up to you to come prepared with a topic that you’d like coaching on. These topics will often relate to the goals we’ve set out during our Discovery Session, but sometimes they may relate to something that is top of mind for you based on what’s been happening in your world. Most of my Ongoing Coaching relationships last for at least six months (12 sessions), allowing my clients the time to make significant progress on their goals and to see the impact of coaching throughout their daily life – deepening their learning every step of the way.
What Clients Are Saying
Hearing the impact that my coaching has had on the lives of my clients is incredibly rewarding. Here are a few examples to give you an idea of how coaching may be able to help you accelerate your own growth.

Ours
While going through the ups and downs of starting a company from scratch, Jeff has been instrumental in helping me build my leadership skills and a foundation for both professional and personal success. During our sessions, he challenges me to see things from different perspectives and I always come away feeling several steps ahead of where I was when we started. My favorite thing about working with Jeff is how he constantly unearths deeper parts of the challenge I’m facing, allowing me not only to solve today’s issues but also to set me up with an approach to become a stronger leader and person overall. I have very clearly benefited from Jeff’s coaching, and my team, future employees and personal relationships have as well. I am deeply grateful for his ability to see the best in the person he’s coaching and build upon existing strengths, his compassion and his genuine approach.

Ohi
Jeff has been an invaluable partner to me as I’ve built Ohi. We started working together when the business was just me and my laptop sat in a WeWork, today we’ve grown to 55 employees, serving over 60 brands across multiple geographies across the US. We truly wouldn’t have been able to do that without Jeff’s help. I’ve always found Jeff to be an honest sounding board and thought partner. He’s consistently been able to give me an alternative perspective and help me step back from the day-to-day to look at the bigger picture when solving problems. He’s also been fantastic at coaching leadership and management principals, accelerating my progression from a player-coach to an executive and leader. I couldn’t recommend Jeff enough as a coach.

My whole life I grew up playing team sports surrounded by coaches who established cultures, habits and mindsets that allowed me to perform my best. I never realized how much I missed that until I started working with Jeff. Jeff is a high performing, intelligent, and empathetic individual who is not afraid to push his clients to get more out of their goals and take accountability for their actions both professionally and personally. Working with Jeff has been a complete game changer. For anyone in finance, Jeff also understands the ins and outs of this industry due to his professional experience and can provide needed tactical advice in additon to his extensive coaching toolkit. If you are looking to stretch yourself and have a deep advocate in your corner every step of the way, I could not recommend working with Jeff more highly.

Having known Jeff a long-time and having previously worked with him in his private equity days, I already knew he was incredibly talented and a “rockstar.” But when we started our coaching relationship together over a year ago, that took on a whole new meaning. Jeff quickly became one of the most important people in my life – helping me figure out decisions with my career, my relationships, and my family. I trust Jeff with my most important questions, and he always finds a way to exceed my expectations with thoughtfulness, care, and effective frameworks to help me find the right answer. In addition to Jeff’s coaching knowledge, his experience in investing and broad business exposure at Stanford GSB makes his coaching particularly functional and impactful. I am super grateful to have Jeff in my life!

I have never met someone who, in my eyes, has found his calling as clearly as Jeff has – his coaching has been THAT impactful on me. Jeff is by far and away the most candid, well-rounded, and approachable coach I’ve ever met. What I have come to appreciate most about working with Jeff are his superhuman listening skills and his kind, compassionate approach towards developing his clients. Not only does Jeff listen attentively to what you say, but he has the unique ability to perceive what is being left unsaid and to ask the right questions that have prompted me to discover drivers of my thinking and decision-making that I was unaware of or had chosen to ignore. Via his questions-based approach informed by his extensive training as a certified coach and his practical business acumen gained from the managerial science he has studied and his past career as an investor, Jeff has helped me to design a career path that is best suited to enable my success and help me reach my goals. Our coaching relationship has also expanded beyond the scope of my career and we have taken the same rigorous and intentional approach to designing my whole life. Ranging from habit formation, managing emotional fluctuations, and the ever-evolving search for balance and purpose, I am extremely grateful to count on Jeff’s coaching and friendship to guide me through the journey – not by providing me with answers, but by helping me to better understand my true self.

I’ve always been an ambitious, high-achieving person motivated to make my mark on the world. Although I love the life I live, it’s important to me to find ways to manage my emotions, my psyche, my soul and my inner voice so that I can achieve my goals and be understood along the way. I want to hear, from someone who has been there and experienced what I am experiencing, that they are proud of me, and at the same time that they want me to be better – for myself, my community, and my organization. For the last 15 months, this person has been Jeff. Jeff is a combination thought-partner, therapist and performance coach. It’s a unique combination of skills. He helps me manage everything from the nature of my raw emotions to evaluating career decisions to approaching interpersonal dynamics at work. Working with Jeff has made me cognizant of the holes in my logic, the mental leaps I am making and the false narratives that I am building to justify my actions. In some ways, Jeff helps me ensure that the train stays on the tracks and gets to its destination.

Jeff has quickly become my most important and impactful thought partner. He has been instrumental in guiding me towards building a life and career that I am proud of and that aligns with my personal values, characteristics and preferences. He has a keen business sense which allows him to provide practical advice through a business lens while also leveraging his expertise as a certified coach. His consistent emphasis on focus, prioritization, self-awareness and personal accountability has helped me improve in a variety of dimensions. I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Jeff and am confident he will continue to add significant value as a thought partner and friend for me and his other clients in the years/decades ahead.

Jeff has played an instrumental role in my journey from private equity to taking the leap a year ago to pursue entrepreneurship. Without Jeff, I would not have been able to build the self-confidence required to make the jump. Having Jeff in my corner as a resource, mentor, and coach gives me certainty that I will be able to build a successful business because of the mental tools he continues to arm me with. As a person of color, I appreciate Jeff because he knows that he was born with certain privileges and doesn’t try to dismiss that idea or act like it doesn’t exist. Jeff does his absolute best to acknowledge any cultural differences and, most importantly, learn about them. I highly recommend Jeff as a coach and I brag about him every chance I get.

Jeff is one of the most genuine, constructive and helpful people I have ever met. I have worked with Jeff for over 18 months now, and a few things about our work together stand out. One, Jeff has incredible business acumen and understands the mindset and pattern-matching skill sets that makes for a strong investor and founder. Two, Jeff constantly educates himself – and shares that knowledge with me – on all topics regarding mindset, performance and coaching, and translates these learnings into tangible exercises that lead to development. Jeff is a trusted advisor and I hold him in the highest regard as both a professional and a friend, and value our work together tremendously.

I’ve known Jeff for over a dozen years now, and the personal growth that he’s achieved over that time is remarkable. He is acutely aware of how his presence can affect others and his extraordinary emotional intelligence sometimes seems like a super power – and he is uniquely able to work with others to help empower them with those same skills. Working with him as a coach has allowed me to more deeply understand my strengths and weaknesses and has given me actionable practices to incorporate into my life that have improved the way I can lead my team effectively and create more meaningful and effective relationships.

Jeff is tremendous. I have never had a professional coach and honestly could not have imagined how much of a game changer it is. I am also spoiled because with Jeff I have gotten to work with the best. He is so intelligent, empathetic, and not afraid to give his own opinion. One of his best abilities is his knowledge of business which allows him to relate and empathize on a granular level about issues you face on a day to day basis. He is also a great human being. Getting Jeff in my corner has allowed me to learn more about myself, what is important to me, and has given me the tools to achieve what I want both personally and professionally.

Engaging Jeff as my coach was the single most important decision I made when founding my company. I credit our coaching relationship with my ability to build a successful business in under a year. More importantly, I’ve felt a tremendous shift throughout my whole life: more openness, curiosity, creativity, and an ability to break old patterns. I am very grateful to Jeff and recommend him highly to anyone eager to embrace learning and growth.

Working with Jeff has been transformative for me. He is a terrific listener, a helpful sparring partner, and just a great guy. He has been a source of confidence and energy for me, both professionally and personally. We’ve worked through some complex topics together from speaking up at work to delivering feedback to building better habits. Venture capital has a number of specific nuances and I was worried that it would take time for our sessions to be valuable. However, given his existing client base and professional experience, he quickly understood the industry well and we were digging into VC-specific topics from the get-go, far surpassing all of my expectations. I would wholeheartedly recommend Jeff as a coach.

Jeff has been an invaluable part of my growth both personally and professionally. He has a wonderful ability to listen, respond, and help me work to uncover the drivers of problems I am facing. I regularly show up to sessions with a specific question or topic in mind only to finish the session having dug deeper into a completely different issue at the true root of what I am dealing with. Jeff shows up to sessions with compassion and wisdom, and he challenges me to ask the hard questions. I trust Jeff with my most difficult problems and biggest decisions, and he has improved the way I show up for myself, for the people in my life, and for my career. I highly recommend him to anyone considering coaching.

About Me
EDUCATION & TRAINING
I received my undergraduate degree in Mathematical Economics from Pomona College, and earned my MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. I came to appreciate the power of coaching during my time at Stanford, where I was selected by the school’s faculty to serve as a leadership coach to 9 first-year MBA students. After graduating from Stanford, I worked with the school’s faculty to help deliver Stanford’s leadership coaching program to over 70 second-year MBA students. Through these experiences at Stanford, I recognized my passion for leadership development and helping other people get more connected with the light inside of themselves. Since leaving Stanford, I have earned certifications as a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC) through the Co-Active Training Institute (CTI) and as a Master Certified Coach (MCC) through the International Coach Federation (ICF).
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Throughout my career, I’ve worked directly with top executives at companies across a variety of industries, and have seen a number of different and unique leadership styles. This has helped me to recognize that leaders are most effective when they’re true to themselves and honor what they really care about. This awareness has fueled my passion to help other people to find their authentic leadership style. Prior to launching my private coaching practice in 2018, I primarily worked in financial services, working with companies across all industries as a private equity investor with American Securities and as an investment banker with Macquarie Capital. During my time as an MBA student at Stanford, I also co-taught a class at Stanford Law School on private equity investing. I also have experience working as an operator in the software industry, most recently working with Genesys on their business operations team.
PERSONAL LIFE
I’ve lived in New York for most of my life, growing up just outside New York City and living in New York City for four years after graduating from college. My education brought me out to California twice – to Los Angeles (college) and the Bay Area (MBA). I also spent a semester abroad in Cape Town, South Africa for 6 months, where I studied South African labor economics and African drumming. I’m passionate about music (I’ve seen 45 Allman Brothers Band concerts and have played guitar for 15 years), travel (I’ve visited 50 countries and 41 states), skiing, hiking, photography and sports. I’m a huge New York Giants fan, and am unfortunately also stuck as a fan of the New York Mets. I love to cook, and am most famous for my Thai green curry, which a chef at a cooking class in Thailand once told me was the best curry a foreigner had ever made for him. I’m currently splitting my time living between Miami Beach, FL and Sun Valley, ID where I spend my days skiing, hiking, biking, running on the beach, SCUBA diving, cooking, learning Spanish, doing INSANITY MAX:30 (shoutout to Shaun T), playing guitar, reading, and meditating.
